AZTEC SKULL

Aztec Skull is inspired by the painting from Jesus Helguera, a painter born in 1910 in Chihuahua, Mexico. One of his famous painting was of Cuauhtémoc or Caballero Aguila, the Aztec ruler of Tenochtitlan from 1520 to 1521, making him the last Aztec Emperor. Its been said that he wore a helmet in the shape of an eagles head with gold trimming, as well as beautiful feathers sprouting from the top of his helmet.

Cuauhtémoc is the embodiment of indigenist nationalism in Mexico. Although he was assassinated around the year 1525, his story and image lives on today as the first design of Rozteca.
